- About the Association
The ZVM Ex-Students Association (ESA) is a registered association formed under applicable laws, affiliated with Z.V.M. Unani Medical College & Hospital, Azam Campus, Pune – 411001.
The Association is a juristic body with perpetual succession and a common seal and operates primarily within the State of Maharashtra.
- Objectives
The objectives of the Association include, but are not limited to:
Promoting education, research, and professional development in the Unani system of medicine
Conducting seminars, workshops, conferences, and refresher courses
Establishing and supporting Unani dispensaries and medical centers
Providing financial assistance to deserving students
Publishing journals, newsletters, and educational material
Undertaking activities incidental or conducive to achieving the Association’s objectives
- Eligibility for Membership
Membership is open to persons who:
Have graduated from Z.V.M. Unani Medical College, Pune
Have passed the B.U.M.S. examination or an equivalent qualification
Are Indian citizens
Are of sound mind
Apply through the prescribed registration process
Admission is subject to verification and approval by the Managing Committee.
- Categories of Membership
The Association recognizes the following categories:
a) Life Member
A member who pays the prescribed one-time subscription fee at the time of enrollment.
b) Benefactor Member
A member who pays an initial subscription fee and an annual renewal fee as prescribed.
Fees may be revised by the Association from time to time.
- Registration, Payment & Approval
Online registration does not guarantee membership
Payment proof must be submitted as instructed
Membership becomes effective only after administrative approval
The Association reserves the right to reject any application without assigning reasons
- Rights and Duties of Members
Members shall:
Abide by the Rules, Regulations, and resolutions of the Association
Act in the best interest of the Association
Maintain professional conduct
Each General Body member shall have one vote.
- Disqualification of Membership
A member may be disqualified if he/she:
Acts against the objectives or interest of the Association
Violates the rules and regulations
Is convicted of a criminal offense involving moral turpitude
Disqualification shall be decided by the Managing Committee and confirmed by the General Body as per prescribed majority.
- Resignation
Any member may resign by submitting a written resignation to the Managing Committee.
Resignation does not entitle the member to a refund of any subscription or donation.
- General Body
The General Body is the supreme authority of the Association and consists of Life Members and eligible members as defined by the rules.
Decisions of the General Body shall be binding on all members.
- Managing Committee
The Managing Committee shall consist of office bearers and members as prescribed
Tenure: Five (5) years
Decisions are taken by majority vote
The Chairman shall have a casting vote in case of a tie
- Elections
Elections shall be held every five years
Election procedures shall be conducted as per prescribed Election Rules
Voting rights are limited to eligible members
- Meetings & Quorum
General Body Meeting: once every year
Managing Committee Meeting: at least once every two months
Quorum requirements shall be as prescribed in the rules
- Bank Accounts
The Association shall operate bank accounts in nationalised, scheduled, or cooperative banks.
Accounts shall be jointly operated by authorized office bearers, preferably including the Chairman, General Secretary, and Treasurer, with the Treasurer’s signature being mandatory.
- Funds & Utilisation
Funds are raised through subscriptions, donations, advertisements, and lawful means
Funds shall be used solely for the objectives of the Association
Percentage allocation of funds shall be as decided by the Association
- Property & Assets
The Association may acquire, manage, supervise, transfer, or dispose of movable and immovable property as per law for fulfilling its objectives.
- Amendments
Rules and regulations may be amended by a 3/5th majority of members present at a General Body Meeting, provided such amendments do not alter the fundamental objectives of the Association.
- Change of Name or Scheme
Any change in the name or scheme of the Association shall be carried out strictly in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Societies Registration (Maharashtra) Rules, 1971.
- Winding Up / Dissolution
In the event of dissolution:
All liabilities shall be settled first
Remaining assets shall be transferred to another association or charitable institution with similar objectives
No assets shall be distributed among members
